In this artwork, titled "Jesus," the artist sets out to depict Jesus as an urban person of color, reflecting the historical treatment of people of color and challenging conventional notions of beauty. This based on the understanding that his appearance did not grant him any societal privileges during his time.

By portraying Jesus as an urban person of color, the artist seeks to draw parallels between the experiences of marginalized communities, including people of color, and the historical context in which Jesus lived. This portrayal highlights the common themes of social injustice, oppression, and the struggle for acceptance and equality.

The inclusion of two silhouettes of crucified shapes positioned behind Jesus's head serves as a symbol and foreshadowing of his eventual crucifixion between two thieves. This imagery represents the sacrifice that Jesus made and the redemptive message associated with his crucifixion.

This artwork aims to provoke thought and reflection on the historical and social implications of Jesus's life.
