This artwork depicts baby Moses being launched down the river Nile by his mother to avoid his execution by Pharaoh. Moses is received by Pharaoh’s daughter and her servants. Moses mother (bottom left) is launching her baby to the fate of the river with the aid of her daughter. I borrowed from Mexican art in my representation of Moses’s basket, in projecting the feeling of the baby and basket being icon like images. The border in contrast incorporates more of an African pattern.
