This piece makes up a part of my series on stereotyping of African Americans in this country. The Aunt Jemima images that float about the central figure's head are indicative of the way advertisers portrayed Black people during the Jim Crow era here in America. My central figure is poised and full of pride and dignity. The broken chains symbolizes the black struggle in overcoming said sterotypes.
