This piece is part of my stereotype series. The Sambo figures uptop illustrate the way how African Americans were portray in advertisment in America during the Jim Crow era. The central figure represents the attitude and strenght of African Americans today. his skin is multicolored to represent that he is more than just skin color, and the broken chains symbolizes Blacks having to overcome the Sambo stereotype.
